Consulting on cost-efficient integrity management systems regarding the lifecycle of assets

Our Asset and Pipeline Integrity Management Systems (AIMS/PIMS) sit at the interface between management and engineering practices, placing the asset at the core of the business. They ensure that the needs of the assets – whether it is a transmission pipeline, a structure, a pumping station, a flexible pipe, a top-sides well-head, a storage tank or other facility – are met in a consistent, comprehensible and robust manner throughout their lifecycles. We have developed a proven and structured method for supporting clients in achieving asset management excellence.

The implementation is one part of our two-stage approach and includes the following:

  • Development of an Integrity Management Manual and auditable processes
  • Implementation of the Integrity Management Program
  • Comprehensive training and hands on familiarization
  • Support on long-term basis

Confirm compliance, identify gaps and highlight improvement opportunities

Based on our broad experience, our asset management advisory experts evaluate the following core elements of an integrity management system:

  • People (staff organizational structure, competency & training)
  • Procedures (Integrity Management Manual)
  • Methodologies
  • Defined KPIs in line with corporate policy
  • Data (regular updates)
  • Software (defined software workflows)

By means of our gap analysis our team of experienced consultants reviews all elements to recommend enhancements that will optimize the integrity benefits from an existing integrity management system, in line with industry best practice and international guidance.

To prove effectiveness, the individual audits of an Asset Integrity Management System (AIMS) and a Pipeline Integrity Management System (PIMS) must:

  • Have clearly defined objectives and KPIs
  • Be supported by an effective staff organizational structure and training program
  • Have good access to accurate and comprehensive data
  • Be aligned with existing operational and maintenance procedures and practices
  • Be supported by appropriate software enabling risks (and outputs that fit client metric systems) to be reviewed regularly
  • Be regularly updated to recognize and incorporate changes (e.g. legislation/ regulatory updates, technology improvements, modified threats)

Feeling the need for integrity management?

We support operators in achieving their goals for safety, integrity management and in fostering an "integrity culture" throughout their organization. The need for appropriate integrity management systems arises out of the multitude of challenges operators face. Some "simply" need a review of existing integrity management procedures and systems by a third party, others face complex non-auditable processes and poor integrity management guidelines. They require the proof of effectiveness of their system, a balance of performance, risks and opportunities and an identification of gaps that we are able to provide.
