Combined In-line Inspection Services

RoCombo Service Suite

Given the scope of variation in pipeline damage mechanisms, no single technology could ever detect all of them in one inspection. Combinations of threats can multiply the possible risks for asset owners and enhance the need for different assessments to establish a clear picture of pipeline events.

Our combined approach utilizes multiple in-line inspection (ILI) technologies that complement each other. Together, these technologies provide a more detailed picture of pipeline defects and losses, with deeper, more reliable information that is supported by our knowledge-based results history. With greater transparency of your pipeline condition, you can choose maintenance and remediation strategies that optimize operating efficiency.

Combined technologies for accurate metal loss and geometry feature detection and sizing

When investigating metal loss and geometry features in one inspection run, our in-line inspection technologies internal eddy current (IEC) and axial magnetic flux leakage (MFL-A) are enhanced by our RoGeo XT Service. This combination increases the probability of detection and provides a more accurate characterization of metal loss features, dents and gouges.

Further benefits of combining the technologies in a single run are reduced inspection costs and minimization of impact on your pipeline’s operation.

Our combination of ILI technologies for metal loss can scan for and detect multiple pipeline threats efficiently and cost effectively. It offers:

  • Eddy current sensor technology for the accurate and precise detection of shallow internal corrosion
  • Contour and sensor technology to deliver high precision geometry mapping and dent sizing
  • Touchless pipeline sensing quantifies solid contaminant volumes, such as scale, debris or wax build up

Individual metal loss and geometry services

  • RoCombo IEC/XT Service combines eddy current sensors and high sampling rates for the accurate and precise determination and sizing of shallow internal corrosion.
  • RoCombo MFL-A/XT Service combines in-line techniques to deliver stress and strain data and quantification of solid contaminants through touchless technology.
  • RoCombo MFL-A/XT/XYZ Service delivers ultra-high resolution mapping and the detection of both metal loss features like pinholes, complex corrosion, microbially induced corrosion (MIC) or girth weld defects and geometry features, such as dents, wrinkles, bending strain, dent stress or dents with metal loss.

Combined technologies for accurate axial metal loss and geometry feature detection and sizing

In-line combined axial metal loss feature and geometry analysis is one of our multiple in-line inspection technologies designed to provide comprehensive assessments of your pipeline condition. Incorporating a magnetic flux leakage unit and electronic measurement system, it facilitates the detection of metal loss and geometry anomalies in a single run, reducing both cost and resources for asset owners. It offers:

  • Magnetic saturation analysis that delivers precise characterization of long seams
  • High sampling rates and high sensor density that reveal accurate metal loss in welded and seamless pipelines
  • Ultra-high resolution available on request to collect data for Selective Seamweld Corrosion (SSWC) integrity assessments
  • Tailor-made sensor designs for high-precision geometry mapping and dent sizing

Dedicated axial metal loss and geometry services

  • Our RoCombo MFL-C/XT tailor-made sensor and magnet designs offer a sensitive and precise characterization of corrosion, erosion, gouging and other metal loss features.

Combined technologies for improved metal loss detection and sizing

When addressing your metal loss detection and sizing threats, our RoCorr IEC eddy current sensor technology alone can identify 100% of the metal loss and geometric defects in a single ILI run. This high-resolution technology enhances our MFL-A offering by assisting with the superior characterization of feature shape and depth. This combination increases overall result accuracy and decreases the likelihood of oversizing features being found in your pipelines. Our combination of ILI technologies for improved metal loss detection and sizing offers the following advantages:

  • High resolution and detection of a broad range of metal loss features, such as corrosion, pitting or top-of-line corrosion (TOLC)
  • Characterization of narrow axial metal loss features, such as channeling or seam weld anomalies
  • Excellent distinction between adjacent features through high-resolution approach

Individual metal loss detection and sizing services

  • Our RoCombo MFL-A/UTWM Service offers high-resolution triaxial magnetic field analysis that yields accurate and precise classification and sizing of metal loss features.
  • The RoCombo MFL-A/IEC Service couples high-density eddy current sensor technology with high sampling rates to deliver accurate and precise detection of internal shallow corrosion.
  • Our RoCombo MFL-A/MFL-C technology combines both sensitivity and accuracy and suits the identification and characterization of both internal and external metal losses.

Combined technologies for metal loss detection and sizing and material property verification

Our modular approach to in-line inspection services presents opportunities for the simultaneous combination of multiple inspection technologies in one run through your pipeline. This yields an efficient assessment of multiple pipeline threats in a single run, by allowing for the more comprehensive assessment of metal loss and geometry features. By combining multiple ILI technologies, your pipeline asset inspection costs and efforts are reduced, and greater positional accuracy can be achieved. Our combined metal loss and material detection service offers the following:

  • High-resolution detection and sizing of metal loss features, such as general corrosion and pitting
  • High-resolution detection and sizing of pipeline geometry features, such as dents, wrinkles and bending strain
  • Determination of pipeline material properties such as pipe grade and identification of pipeline hard spots

RoCombo MFL-A / XT / PGS / DMG dedicated metal loss and material services

Our RoCombo MFL-A / XT / PGS / DMG Service combination delivers accurate and precise classification and sizing of metal loss and geometry anomalies, as well as accurate measurement of steel strength (yield and tensile strength). Additionally, the combination delivers accurate and precise detection and sizing of hard spots and distinguishes between different types of hard spots. While optimizing operating pressures it also eliminates costly excavations.

Combined data for faster results delivery

One of the optimum outcomes from combining two synergistic ILI technologies at the post-inspection stage is the opportunity to analyze both datasets in an aligned process. This results in improved sizing accuracy, and increased probability of detection and identification (POD and POI). Where there is the chance of interactive defects that may pose a greater risk to pipeline integrity, this approach delivers a superior characterization of such defects and a more accurate picture of pipeline integrity. By combining our diagnostic solutions, cost and time reductions, this leads to a faster delivery of results from our experienced analysts, who assist us in the timely presentation of high-quality assessments and pipeline visualizations.
