The complexity of various welding processes, the material changes which are occasioned in the process of welding - including melting, solidifying and accelerated cooling - all have an influence on the security, quality and performance of a welded joint. Our materials and welding group therefore has to have - and does have - a wide-ranging knowledge of processes, metallurgy and design to specify welds of predictable and consistent quality.

The group is ready to support any project - however complex or broad-ranging - to ensure best outcome. They are able to aid in the specification of welding techniques, which materials are to be used and the suppliers from which those materials will be sourced. Inspection and audit of all works can be conducted according to applicable specifications - and verified to be in accordance with them. Training of client staff in achieving agreed aims can also be delivered at our specialist weld training centre in Brunswick Park, at the Quorum business park offices or at a client site.

Quality

The aim of most of our projects is to ensure safety and enhance reliability. To this end we conduct our research and development in welding implementation with the specific aim of controlling weld quality and warranting weld and joint integrity.

From quality awareness, reliability grows. Materials used play a central role in this and our people have expert knowledge in this and, perhaps more importantly, in the practical experience to make work fit for the real world, not just the laboratory.

We can take our knowledge out of our own facilities, supporting clients in their projects as they in turn seek to give their work - as far as possible - a warranty of quality. Our working knowledge of national and international standards is something hard won but we are proud to pass it on. Our quality assurance standards can then become a client’s quality assurance.

Review

Our vendor review service allows us to train and support those companies looking to operate at the highest standards. Teaching is something we are proud to do. We often audit vendor quality as clients bid for work on large projects and come up against the need to submit their work to those higher standards. Should any production or manufacturing facility need improvement in their quality control we can also audit and advise on methods to achieve the required level of reliability. What we bring we share, and what we share makes the quality of your work better. Simple.

Witness

Occasionally, when some failure has occurred we act as investigators to establish cause using our laboratories to investigate where and why failure occurred and to identify root cause. Also we are asked from time to time to stand as expert witness when litigation ensues. Our standing in the industry brings about this contact.

A Trusted Technical Authority

For any organisation or project needing oversight of weld quality ROSEN’s materials and welding group can act as an authority to ensure compliance with standards. This includes procedure qualification, test weld monitoring and witnessing. We are able to offer all round engineering support to your organisation.

Consultancy

Consultancy can be offered as much or as little as needed. For those companies without the expertise in materials science and welding engineering we offer a one stop solution to achieving the highest standards in the practice of fabrication, including the specification of materials and joining processes, without having to invest heavily to get it.

Standards

We support companies in achieving certification to standards including ISO 3834 - which remains the high water mark for welding quality - and EN 1090 standards, which is a statutory requirement for those working in the construction industry.

Where safety, quality of work and an assurance of sustained productivity is required we bring the benefits of a large, highly qualified team of people to your organisation.

We are part of ROSEN

The ROSEN group enjoys access to an extensive global network of in-house engineering and consultancy experts who work closely with the operators of oil and gas facilities and in associated and supporting industries.

In Newcastle the team in charge of the materials and welding group has developed its specialist expertise from a long history of maintenance of assets in oil and gas distribution networks.

The team is able to call on all other expertise within the ROSEN group; teams which comprise doctors, professors and industry experts and authorities whose expertise is at the full disposal of all clients.
