Karlsruhe/Stutensee, Germany. October 2019 – Experts from the national and international programming scene took it in turns to take to the mic over five days at the PyCon.DE conference in Karlsruhe. In attendance were the data scientists from the ROSEN Group. As an information service provider with a branch in Stutensee, the company is constantly seeking additional forms of analysis which can be applied in new industries.
The ROSEN Group focuses on software development with some 250 programmers distributed across sites in Germany and internationally. “We use programming languages such as Python to process pipeline inspection data in a new and innovative way for example,” explains Jens Nie, a data scientist at ROSEN. The aim is to be able to deduce even more information from the available data.
At PyCon.DE, three representatives from ROSEN gave insight into their working world using the programming language Python. Data scientist Dr. Hendrik Niemeyer drew on the extensive field of machine learning. He introduced the conference to a method of using human feedback to improve the classification of data. This means that data analysists can develop algorithms in real time using their expertise.
Certified systems scientist Matthias Peußner has developed a so-called ‘Convolutional Neural Network,’ which can independently identify any imperfections in the pipeline material and differentiate them from points where there are no faults. During his talk at PyCon.DE, M. Sc. Artur Miller clearly demonstrated the critical importance of correct data processing for the successful implementation of projects.
The ROSEN Group also presented its wide range of professions and specialist fields at PyCon.DE — both at their own booth and as a gold sponsor. “Experts who undoubtedly did not previously associate us with software development are now aware of us,” says Kerstin Reichhardt, who is responsible for recruiting software experts. “We think mechanical engineering and software development go hand-in-hand. Our advanced technology for protecting people and the environment is produced solely by expert employees here,” Reichhardt continues.
