Early 2015 Saraco S.A. approached the ROSEN Challenging Pipeline Diagnostics Division with a unique inspection need.

The challenging asset: the two 6” feeder lines that supply fuel to Airplanes at the Geneva Airport through a hydrant system from a tank farm.  This system is largely considered unpiggable due to low points where water is separated and removed on a weekly basis.

The last section of pipe to the tanks, located on the airport grounds, is located in close proximity to airplanes and crosses the taxi lanes, which consist of very thick concrete, making it nearly impossible to replace without resulting in extensive costs.

This replacement would best be avoided, and thus the sections integrity must be confirmed.

The objective for the inspection of this asset was to verify the integrity of the pipeline by measuring internal and external corrosion.
