Mexico’s constitutional-level energy reforms were passed in 2013 and translated into law one year later. Mexico embarked on a total transformation of its energy sector on a scale unmatched anywhere else in the world. Turbulent times with an initially steep decline in oil prices. A series of auctions, a new regulatory framework, the creation of Cenagas, etc. And, maybe most notably, private sector involvement in the expansion of Mexico’s natural gas pipeline network. Fast forward to the uncertainty around what will happen next. Will there be drastic changes in Mexico’s energy policy? Will oil and gas auctions be delayed or cancelled altogether? What will be the extent of future private sector involvement, and what will be the role of PEMEX?
Regardless of the political environment, it is our view that for long-term, sustainable success, stakeholders in the pipeline and oil and gas industry at large will have to work together, not only to ensure safe and reliable operation and performance in the short- to mid-term but in particular also to seek innovative solutions for challenges 10, 20 or even 30 years from now. Only with a joint effort can we meet the future requirements placed on our industry in an increasingly complex environment.
This seminar is intended to share knowledge, experience and key developments in the field of pipeline inspection and integrity management. These insights are provided through presentations and workshops by industry experts and stakeholders. The seminar is aimed at technical professionals, engineers, supervisors, coordinators, managers etc. who are (will be) involved in or responsible for pipeline operations, integrity or safety. Participants from the construction sector, pipeline owners/operators and regulators should have basic knowledge of or a background in pipeline operations or integrity. Participants will find a compact program to broaden their general understanding of technical aspects and trends in the field of pipeline integrity. At the same time, they will get an appreciation of the direction the industry is heading from speakers representing the viewpoints of stakeholders in Mexico's pipeline industry.
