The Solution

The complexity of various welding processes, the material changes which are occasioned in the process of welding — including melting, solidifying and accelerated cooling — all have an influence on the quality and integrity of a welded joint. ROSEN has a wide-ranging knowledge of processes, metallurgy and design to specify welds of predictable and consistent quality and is ready to support any project, however complex or broad-ranging, to ensure safety and enhance reliability.

We are able to aid in the specification of welding techniques, the selection of materials to be used, and the review or audit of suppliers from which those materials will be sourced. Inspection and audit of all works can be conducted according to applicable specifications and verified to be in accordance with them. Training of customer staff in achieving agreed aims can also be delivered at a customer’s or at our facilities.

Consultancy can be offered as much or as little as needed. For companies without expertise in materials science or welding engineering, we offer a one-stop solution for achieving the highest standards in the practice of fabrication, including the specification of materials and joining processes, without having to invest heavily to get it.

Quality Assurance

Reliability grows from quality awareness. This is why we conduct our research and development in welding implementation with the specific aim of controlling weld quality and warranting weld and joint integrity. We take our knowledge out of our own facilities, supporting clients in their projects as they seek to give their work a warranty of quality. Our quality assurance standards then become a customer’s quality assurance.

Audit

We support review and auditing of vendor quality. Should any production or manufacturing facility need improvement in their quality control, we can also audit and advise on methods to achieve a customer’s aspiration.

Expert Witness

When failure has occurred, we act as investigators to establish cause using our laboratories to determine where and why failure occurred and to identify root causes. Also, we are asked from time to time to serve as expert witnesses when litigation occurs. It is the standing of our principal engineers in the industry which leads to their appointment in legal cases.

Compliance

For any organization or project needing oversight of weld quality, ROSEN can act to ensure compliance with standards. This includes procedure qualification, test weld monitoring and witnessing. We support companies in achieving certification to standards including ISO 3834 — which remains the high-water mark for welding quality — and EN 1090, which is a statutory requirement for obtaining the CE mark in structural steel products.

The benefit

The combination of our extensive expert knowledge in materials science and welding engineering with the practical experience to make it work outside the laboratory enables us to offer comprehensive engineering support to your organization. Wishing to support the industry in its effort to reach the goal of zero incidents, we take pride in training and consulting to pass on our working knowledge of national and international standards.
